Why do you have links to sports and news on your home page -- it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the church?

Well, the answer is simple ... and complex. The simple reason is that some people wanted to use our site as their homepage, but wanted to be able to connect quickly to things like weather, sports and news -- so we put some links on there for them.

And complex ... We believe that things like weather, sports and news have everything to do with our body -- engaged with the community and the world.

How can I be involved?

The first answer is “Pray.” Seriously, begin praying. We are amazed at the number of roadblocks that pop up. Pray for the city of Asheville and take prayer drives in your car up Hendersonville Road and Sweeten Creek and the Biltmore area and pray. Pray for the hearts of Gus and Kay Schill and others committed to the church plant. Pray that the force and beauty of the gospel will be applied anew each day in our lives and those participating in the ministry. Pray for financial supporters to be raised and please contact us if you are willing to assist in the prayer effort. Prayer must not be something we tack on to our agenda but the driving passion of ministry.

Second, consider your own personal involvement. Become a part of something bigger than you -- we'd love to see you on Sunday morning or at one of our community groups. We meet at 10:00 a.m. at Foster Community Center on Hendersonville Road (across from Huddle House). For ways to plug in, see our pluggin' in page.

You can also consider committing to support this project financially. Gus must raise a three-year church plant budget approaching $400,000. It takes many visionary and committed people willing to pledge financial support, over and above the tithe, to under-gird a church plant. Pray for the fundraising goals to be met quickly and please consider your own personal assistance.

Third, help spread the enthusiasm in our communities about Grace Biltmore. Enthusiasm gives birth to enthusiasm as people share what God is doing in our church plant and in our city. We want to build as many relationships as we can with people who might have an interest in helping start this new church, especially those who have no local church connection. That means your friends, neighbors, and associates. Please tell your friends about this developing ministry and pass on referrals to us.

What if I’d like to give?

Our hope is to see a church community grow with people from diverse backgrounds, life experiences, and economic standings. We need to raise enough financial encouragement and support to begin this church, even if congregational giving is low. As the new church grows, we hope it will be a key player in other planting efforts throughout our region.

We seek partners, churches, and people to join with one-time gifts to help the initial startup. We also desire regular giving and pledges for the next three years with the intent that Grace Biltmore will be self-supporting at the end of that time.

Contact Gus Schill or Carla Donaldson for more information.
